July Miscellaneous

RANDOM PHOTOS & MOMENTS FROM JULY

Rachel & Caroline with Jane & Anna Rydin (Jane is Rachel's best friend from Mi Escuelita)

Rachel & Caroline playing dress-up... notice that Caroline is wearing the dress that Rachel wore in Robert & Lo's wedding. She looks a LOT like Rachel did at that time - same amount of hair & pretty curls in the back, etc.

Eating can be really messy when you're a baby... especially baby food prunes!

Baby food isn't just for babies anymore... (Caroline really did have some!)

Bath time for the younger two
Riding on a "train" in the hallway

Sarah's getting to be a big girl - standing up! (well, with the help of chairs, tables, etc.)
I love her chubby little thighs....
Fun afternoon with my friend Lisa Sitek from Davidson - she lives in Vermont but was in town visiting her parents, who live in Durham. Her kids are Jane, age 4; and Duncan, age 2. It was so fun to get our kids together for the very first time!

Auman Family Farm

My mom & Bob took Rachel & Caroline to the Auman family farm a few days ago, and everyone had a great time! Bob's sister Nancy was keeping her grandkids, Will and Ginny, which made it fun for our girls to have some playmates!

Who knew you could use plastic bats to get peaches down from a peach tree?!!!

Caroline loved petting the goats!

Lunch - yum!

Slip-n-Slide at Ryan's House

The girls and I had fun with our neighbors Glen & Ryan on Thursday - they have a new slip-n-slide which was perfect on a hot summer day.
Gaining some serious speed....
Wheeeee!!!

Caroline didn't really seem interested in the "slip" or "slide" part, but was happy toodling along as an excuse to get wet!
Yum! Popsicles!

Family Zoo Trip - July 11

We had a great time at the zoo on my birthday! The new giraffe observation deck was my favorite part - we were able to hand-feed leaves to a hungry giraffe! It was also neat watching a gorilla eat a vegetable snack, as well as visiting the other usual animals - elephants, ostriches, zebras, chimps, lions, etc. Here are some highlights!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree - Rachel was our navigator, reminiscent of my days as Map Girl when my friends & I traveled in Europe!

A giraffe at the observation deck - what a long tongue!
Feeding him some yummy leaves

The giraffes were just so beautiful to watch!
Rachel at the elephant pond - this one had just come out of the pond from a nice, cool swim!
Brian and the girls were able to cool off under a misty "tree"
Safari Helicopter as part of the elephant education exhibit
A gorilla eating a yummy piece of celery (this was exciting because it was my first time at this zoo to see a gorilla doing anything more than sleeping or sitting up against the glass)

Enjoying a carrot, too!

Neat photo of the male lion sleeping - with Brian & Caroline's shadow looking down at him

Cookout at My Mom's House

On Saturday night, we enjoyed a nice cookout with my mom & Bob, as well as Bob's daughter Abby & her daughter Maggie. (Brian and Matt were both out of town and had to miss out on the fun!)

Happy Girls playing in the wading pool

Fun with water guns

Only the best for Sarah - a silver spoon to play with!

Lighting candles for my birthday cupcakes

I had some wonderful helpers with blowing out the candles!
