Early Morning Fun

Sometimes the best moments are the simple ones -- those little unplanned moments when the girls are being particularly cute or sweet to each other. Here's one such moment, from a morning in February -- when Rachel and Caroline were totally entertained by getting Sarah to crawl through their legs!

Beautiful Spring Day

Yesterday was one of those perfect days to be outside -- sunny skies, flowers blooming, and warm but not hot! So Caroline, Sarah, and I went to the park for a picnic lunch and some playground time. Our friends Stella & Paloma and their mom Julie met us there to play & eat as well.
Here are a million photos -- it was such a gorgeous day that I just kept taking more pictures!

Caroline was nice enough to take this one of Sarah and me (about the only way I ever get to be in the pictures!), but as you can see, Sarah was not exactly in the mood for a picture.
Wheeeee!!
This was my attempt at doing an artistic viewpoint

Spring Soccer

This spring, Rachel is playing Rainbow Soccer again, in the kindergarten league, on a team called the Pandas. A few friends from her school are on her team, which makes it especially fun. The coaches are 3 enthusiastic and soccer-experienced UNC students -- so it's all going really well! Today was team photo day -- here are a few of MY pictures from practice.

Hockey with the kids

We had a fun time at the hockey game last weekend with Allen, Clair, & Hutch as well as Glen & Ryan Greenstreet. The area where we sat wasn't too crowded, so the kids were able to move around & play together in addition to watching the 'Canes.
Rachel was lucky to grab a t-shirt that came flying up from Stormy the mascot using the t-shirt launcher! She was very generous & promptly gave the shirt to Ryan. With an exciting come-from-behind win in overtime, fun was had by all!

February 2011 Miscellaneous

FEBRUARY 2011 MISCELLANEOUS

Rachel and her friend Catalina, making beaded necklaces at school in celebration of "100 Days of Kindergarten"
Caroline with her friend Abigail -- two very fancy princesses!
Rachel came home from school one day with a fun idea - she wrote her own "song" for the xylophone, using color-coded notes on her paper that corresponded to the notes on the xylophone.
Sarah wearing a sweet, blue flowered dress that her Tia Lo and Uncle Robert gave her for her birthday. I'm thinking maybe this should have been posted under the "hair" post on this blog, to show Sarah's complete lack of hair at 16 months!

Chillin' on Mommy & Daddy's bed at bedtime

Rachel and Caroline enjoying a princess story & some snuggle time with "Uncle Spencer," as he was referred to recently by Caroline.
Hello, Daddy! How's your day at work going?

Hair

I consider myself very lucky to have 3 daughters, because I absolutely LOVE doing hair! And while Rachel loathes hair time because of the tangles we're always dealing with, she does let me play with her hair once in a while. Recently we did french braids, which looked SO ADORABLE! Soon thereafter she got a new, shorter do.

Meanwhile, Caroline has been able to fit her hair into two little ponytails (or are they pigtails?) -- which she is very proud of -- she says that they make her a "big girl."

So, here are a variety of recent pictures related to hair!

In these pictures, Rachel looks a lot like I did as a little girl

Brian's Birthday Weekend in PKS

We enjoyed some unseasonably wonderful weather while celebrating Brian's birthday at PKS. Here are some pictures of the action!

For mid-February, we had really nice temperatures -- so we spent LOTS of time outside, especially riding bikes!

It was REALLY windy, though -- especially at the water's edge near the sound

A family of bikers! Mark, Miriam, & Neils riding together

Sarah loves pushing the baby doll stroller (with or without a baby in it!)

Running around at the park by the sound

Family photo!
Not pictured -- Miriam, Ed (the dog), and Sarah (she was napping nearby in the stroller)
Fun on the neighborhood playground

Say CHEESE!!!
Just in case Brian wasn't quite sure of his new age, Rachel made him a nice sign
Cake, candles, & ice cream

Why not celebrate with wine, too?!! Cheers!
